Well, I think the death toll may go into the thousands. And unfortunately, that's going to be attributable a lot to people who did not heed the evacuation warnings. And I don't make judgments about why people choose not to evacuate.
Unlike Mr. Brown, I am not afraid to make such judgments. For example, I direct your attention to this AP photo of an alleged "victim":
You'd think that an 84-year old like
Milvertha Hendricks would make smarter "choices".

I mean, jeezm, what's next? Will Grace Slick advise us that cities built on rock'n roll are less flood-prone than ones built on jazz?!

More on Brown's "qualifications" at Kos. It's about as bad as I suspected. Oh gosh, more here. The way this guy is running things, I'll expect him to receive a Presidential Medal of Freedom in short order.
Another "don't miss" Kos post.

The sadder thing is that it's not just the wingnut pundits and the galactically clueless twits allegedly in charge of this ginormous clusterfuck saying that. I was having lunch at a restaurant not far from my office on the university campus where I work (whose clientele, especially at lunch on a weekday, is almost entirely comprised of university folk--who ought to know better), and there was a very loud woman at a table nearby, pontificating to her friend that we really shouldn't be rebuilding in a flood plain.
It was with great difficulty that I restrained myself from walking over and pouring a pot of green jasmine tea over her pointy little head.
I admire your restraint (although grean-jas is my favorite).
One of mine, too, though both English Breakfast and Darjeeling are ahead of it.
Hooray to you and your family, Oyster...
I really hope the ball transplant the media have received holds and they keep the pressure on Bush to fire this incompetent shithead...
Of course, the fact that Bush hasn't already done so is just another pound of proof we can add to the mountain of evidence that his presidency has been nothing less than an utter disaster.
