Debate

I think having a Presidential debate in New Orleans is a tremendous idea.

Here's a quick question I would like posed to the Republican nominee:

You've recently pandered to Rev. Pat Robertson, who previously warned that God sends catastrophic disasters in response to things like "Gay Day" festivals. Do you believe that God had a hand in the devastation following Katrina, including the faulty levees that flooded New Orleans?

---
Alternate query: do you believe that the earth is 5,000 years old, as the Bible implies, or do you believe it is closer to 5 billion years old as science suggests?

I like the second one better, because it's less easy to wriggle free from.

I think they could weasel on the first one in such a way as to appease Northeast/Midwest moderates who don't give a damn about Katrina.

The second one is better because it alienates the bible literalists-- not an inconsequential GOP subgroup.

The first one is basically a statement that "Robertson is an extremist fool and you felt the need to pander to him."

Who is the Republican nominee, and how do you know he panders to Pat Robertson?

For that matter, who is the Democratic nominee? Looks like you guys are having a heck of a race.

However the nominees might be, a debate in New Orleans would be a good idea.
