Much will hinge on how badly they want Piyush "Bobby" Jindal to be the next Governor of Louisiana. The longer Vitter stays in, the more toxic he is to his good buddy Jindal.
Blanco should realize that she's in one hell of a strong position right now. In about a month's time, the local Pubbies will want Vitter gone even if they know she'll be appointing a Democrat to replace him.

No. Even with Vitter on the loose, the only thing that can stop Jindal is a viable opponent. And all potentially viable opponents have wussed out so far.
We also call him "Doughy Pantload". And "Doughbob Loadpants." The possibilities are endless for the author of "Liberal Fascism", which will come out one day soon. Really.

Does anyone think it's possible that the repugs know for certain that there are a lot more of Vitter's dirty diapers waiting to surface? These people talk amongst themselves, and some of them undoubtedly knew about Vitter's ho-luving, Pampers® wearing proclivities long before he was exposed. Maybe they want to pressure Vitter into resigning before the whole story comes out. The gopers managed to bum rush Mark Foley out of Congress before everything about his page stalking activities came to light. If they can get Vitter out the door before the really scandalous stuff that would sicken the average citizen comes out, they may feel that the damage to the party will be minimized. Once Vittercrite is gone they can claim that it's all old news and keep the taint from spreading.
