Batt means bwah ha ha

As Clay points out in a comment in the previous post, for former City Councilman Jay Batt to call out David Vitter on prostitution and talk about the need for New Orleans to "cleanse" its political culture... is really freaking rich.

I guess Batt's fundraising for John McCain has slowed from its earlier manic pace, and he can take time out now for the "business" of TV punditry.

I will say one thing: he looks a whole lot better. He's lost a lot of weight and looks healthier.

Kudos to him.

Batt's career is sort of quirky.

There was a big push to get a pro-business Republican into the seat... Batt steps forward as the best candidate, promising a grocery store... He gets elected and in every conflict between businesses/entities, he sides with the big businesses (see Bruno's Bar and Tulane at Uptown Square)... People decide they don't like pro-business conservatives... He's kicked to the curb with the slogan "Anybody But Batt."

His election and defeat were proper reflections of the electorate each time. Funny thing is, I still liked the guy. I'm just not going to pretend he was Mother Teresa.

By all accounts Batt is a fun guy to hang with, and is oftentimes nicely dressed.

I helped get the Carrollton SAV A LOT grocery ready for business, but that's not the sort of store or location that Batt's constituents apparently had in mind.

I found it peculiar that he ended up on WWL-TV's loop yesterday, but apparently on one actually on the council would talk. Maybe he was just relishing a little of the old publicity, or else he has a run in mind for the at-large seat. He is definitely not what we need.

Clay, you nailed it. I found the whole "be careful what you ask for, you might actually get it" saga very entertaining.

I really don't want to have to write anything about Jay Batt ever again. Please don't run for anything, Jay. Please?

I'll vote for anybody honest and willing to prove it.
