Fist jabbing America in the Barack
Item!Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a German magazine he supported prospective U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal that U.S. troops should leave Iraq within 16 months.
It will be interesting to see if the Bush Administration still has the leverage to make Maliki "walk back" this statement in coming days.
===
Update: Marc Ambinder reports that "a prominent Republican strategist who occasionally provides advice to the McCain campaign said, simply, 'We're fucked.'"
Labels: Iraq morass, McCain, Obama

No, they're giving McSame the space to walk back from his 100 years in Iraq statement.

Well, if this is what the Iraqis want, and we're supposedly there to foster democracy and the people's wishes and all that, then isn't withdrawal the least we can do?
Or will the Bush cabal retcon our reason for being there yet again?
Maybe we should just let Iraqis vote in our presidential election. Hey, why stop there, let the whole world vote in our elections. Who needs a soveriegn nation anyway, eh?
Evidently not the Iraqis...
