"TalkLeft" is unfortunately a misnomer. Jeralyn Merritt, the owner, has posted how she agrees 100% with George Bush's policies regarding Israel. In other words, she's a hardcore Zionist. Kind of like admitting to membership in the KKK. There's nothing "left" about that.
Calm down, matter. I've railed on TalkLeft a plenty over the past year. Plus, views on a single issue does not a "leftist" make. (For example, I'm a leftist who has a bent towards "free trade".)
Ethan will be a welcome addition to that blog.
Matter, you are indeed a degenerate. You would have children killed just so Hamas can use their own families as human shields and then cry foul when the IDF calls them on it. The true Nazis are people such as yourself, who would have all Jews such as myself remain victims to your ideology that aids atrocity.
Shame on you.
hi Leigh,
I'm sorry for you that your thinking is so fuzzy and ridiculously wrong. You should study the issue some more, because it's clear your grasp of the facts is pretty much nonexistent. (It would be like trying to debate philosophy with GW Bush.) You need to look back in time to 1948 and before. The Zionist invaders stole the land. "God is my real estate agent" doesn't have any basis in the rule of law. Neither does making the Palestinians pay for the Nazi holocaust. The Zionists don't belong there, just like the French didn't belong in Algeria. (You really should study some history.)
This time, the Jews of Israel are behaving like Nazis. So sad that the victim becomes the murderer. But I guess you think two Holocausts are better than one.
Now back to Talkleft, Oyster. I have no problam with Ethan Brown. In fact, prior to your post, I'd never heard of him. Any counterbalance to the odious Jeralyn is probably a good thing. So now it's your turn to calm down. ;-)
Ethan's great. I don't know if he'll "balance out" Jeralyn or BTD as you or I might like in terms of political commentary, but he'll certainly positively enhance TalkLeft.
3 steps to derailing a thread on YRHT.
1) Oyster makes a post about something not at all related to Israel.
2) Matter somehow finds a way to link the discussion to Israel
3) People jump in to correct Matter, and derailment ensues.
Let's try and keep Oyster's threads on topic, shall we?
Thanks for the nice post, Oyster. Appreciate it. I'm going over to Talk Left for a couple of simple, very uncomplicated reasons: one, I don't have time to maintain my own blog; two, I think that the folks at Talk Left would like some more criminal justice blogging now that the election is over. As an aside, I like that Talk Left has voices--like Big Tent Democrat--who are outside of what you usually hear among the big lefty political blogs. Thanks again for the post and hope I can rep NOLA correctly.

Matter, describing a defense of Israel as admitting to membership in the Klan is too extreme and denotes anything but a calm approach to the bad things being done on BOTH SIDES of the Gaza conflict. Nice seeing you be an apologist for those who would take advantage of their own people, such as the now-deceased Arafat, Mahmoud Abbas, the Hamas leadership, and those who refused to take the Israeli Arabs into their countries. Israel has tried time and again to give these folks their own land in the West Bank and Gaza and the Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity - except when it comes to killing all Israelis and painting themselves as the victims.
Where would YOU relocate the displaced Israelis? In DP camps, once again? Or would you have them not defend themselves and their children just to prove your points? Why do Jewish people have to die like lambs to the slaughter for you to have any sympathy? It is people like you who perpetuate a double standard amongst those on the left: sympathy for the oppressed, so long as they STAY oppressed.
Once again, shame on you. And I'm sorry this had to be injected into a completely unrelated post on Oyster's blog.
Oh, and I know the following might well be picked apart, but I'll forward the link on anyway:

And really, nobody wants all of this crap to end more than I and former IDF citizen soldier Haim Watzmann. Both sides are indeed making serious mistakes:
