The Stupid, it burns

This idiotic ABC story might as well be retitled

Super Dumb Louisiana lawyer believes conservative hype, fears Obama will confiscate ENTIRE INCOME from those making over $250k, and will put said cash on a levitating magnetic train (running from Opelousas to Las Vegas to Disneyland to Octumom's uterus to an active monitored volcano in Alaska) and dispose of it in a molten fiery pit!

but I guess that's a tad lengthy.

How does an attorney from Lafayette say something so stupid, unless it's a purposeful attempt to misinform others?

I wonder if this attorney from Lafayette plans to attend the "Tea Party" in Lafayette this Saturday?

It should also be noted that the $250,000 threshold is on TAXABLE income, not total income. So, unless the aforementioned lawyer is so principled as to not take a standard deduction (if one can even do that), he's got a bit more leeway.

On the other hand, if he truly is that stupid, I doubt his income is really going to be an issue.

I would really like to see this "income = intelligence" bullshit done away with.

Britney Spears generates an awful lot of income.

This is what Republicans do with taxes. They fear monger people into thinking that they are going to be taxed to death and then give bad details.

For example, I made a youtube video on Rush Limbaugh's attacks on Obama's tax plan because Rush "wasn't sure" if Obama meant "gross receipts" or "net profits" when determining that $250,000 threshhold. Of course, anyone who believes that Obama was talking about anything other than net income is an idiot. But Rush relies on that.

Probably a good idea someone is doing a progressive radio show in the New Orleans area to help combat all the conservtive smears. :)

Hear, hear, DZ: looking forward to your show.

Well, sure, intelligence doesn't equal income, but this wouldn't seem to be so far away from a lawyer's expertise. Lawyers are supposed to know how to inspect the details of documents and find ways to kill deals, I mean, slide through the loopholes. You don't pay a lawyer to run around hysterically spouting b.s. (unless the lawyer deems b.s. to be your best option, or unless the lawyer has been elected to political office).

In certain professions like law and medicine, a stupid person can get away with quite a bit and be fairly successful...but not to this extent.

And while Britney may be dumb as a back a hammers, her handlers and agent aren't.

Oyster... LOL

Why on earth would ABC publish this person's idiotic quote unattributed? Did they see her tax returns and actually verify she's earning that much? I service a lot of attorneys in Lafayette, I'm quite curious who this might be...

It's probably wise that this attorney asked that her name not be used, as her incredible obliviousness would seem to be a handicap to her trade, and probably hurt business. I certainly wouldn't hire her. I just hope she's not a tax attorney. Guh...
Incidentally, I'm sure someone with some investigative prowess might be able to figure out who it is...

Most attorney's are stupid. Many are ignorant of a wide range of things except that narrow field of their particular specialty.

Many are corrupt and fail to see basic ethical problems within their own profession.

99% of lawyers give the honest ones a bad name.
