As the philosopher Sgt. Hartman posited in Full Metal Jacket,

"... only steers and queers come from Texas."

While these categories seem overly restrictive to me, we will note that Houston elected a new Mayor yesterday and Dallas re-elected a sheriff last year.

A view into the future: Bloomberg covers Annise Parker's election, sans mention of sexual categories, with total emphasis on Houston's deficit. The gay thing wasn't newsworthy. (Update: Bloomberg has since updated the article to include mention of Parker's sexual orientation, which sort of disappoints me. I look forward to the day when such things aren't newsworthy. Houston's mayoral election quickens us towards that goal.)

I'm sure Bloomberg will stop reporting about folks' sexuality as it relates to their open homosexuality as soon as openly homosexual folks stop feeling the need to hold Gay Pride festivals, marches, parades, etc.

Bloomberg didn't make an issue of it because it has nothing to do with finance. Bigotry for its own sake isn't profitable.

Gay Pride parades are in response to irrational, non-financial arguments, such as "God hates Fags."

Dear "GO"
I think you have it backwards.

Duff while you are correct that God does not hate Fags; he loves all of his children. He does condemn Sexual relations between people of the same gender.

He also condemns cheeseburgers and crawfish.

I notice Duff's changing the subject, now...

"queers and steers come from Texas" is from an Officer and a Gentleman, I think . . . not Full Metal Jacket. Lou Gossett was the DI.
