Yeah, yeah, I know, I know

YRHT didn't really show up this week. Apologies all around. Tell ya what; to make it up to you, my next post will be free of charge. (Unless you believe "time" is "money". In that case, the next post will consume valuable life force credits that you will never be able to get back or redeem for legal tender. As this post has.)

If a tree falls in the CBD, and no one cares...

WDSU led off their 10pm local news broadcast with a 2 1/2 minute segment on the following exclusive story.

NEW ORLEANS -- A monument marks the spot where three of the world's most powerful men [including Pres. Bush] once planted an oak tree as a gift to the people of New Orleans.

The marker for the monument still remains, but the tree has been hacked down.

"We don't know who did it," said federal Judge Sally Shushan.

Shushan heads up the group that oversees Lafayette Square Park.

She showed pictures of how the tree looked after someone cut in down in September.

The little youngling tree was chopped down around September 11th, and six weeks later it's suddenly the lead news story. I mean, was balloon boy not vomiting on someone this evening? And when I say "balloon boy" I'm not referring to former City Councilman Jay Batt, I'm referring to that kid who was part of the aerial hoax in Denver.

By the way, that "monument" by the oak (stump) is pretty pathetic, as well.

Update: Gloomypants piles on WDSU. Actually, I'm probably the one "piling on", but I didn't know that when I composed the post.
