Auburn quarterback Clint Moseley would not want it any other way.
First off, excellent choice of surname.
When the sophomore makes the first start of his college career,
Let's interrupt right there and offer congratulations. First start, how exciting!
...it will come against the No. 1 team in the country.
Hoo boy, that's quite a challenge. I wonder who is ole numero uno these days?
The 5-2 Tigers travel to Baton Rouge, La. Saturday to face undefeated LSU.
Heaven protect this poor young man!
Moseley was named Auburn's new starting quarterback after going into the second half of the Florida game last week and completing 4-of-7 passes for 90 yards in a 17-6 win.
"It was all surreal at first," Moseley said of learning he was the new starting quarterback.
I predict the surreality will, um, persist through the weekend.
"It was an awesome moment for me."
Hope you enjoyed it.
Getting to start against the country's top-ranked team made the news more enjoyable for him."LSU is probably the best defense that I have ever faced...," said Moseley.
"The No. 1 team in the country is a great way to start off. They are a great defense. No doubt about it. And I've heard stories about how loud (LSU's Tiger Stadium) is, but what bigger stage could I get to play on, to get to start on?"
You've...heard... stories... about how loud it is?
Moseley can't wait."I'm so lucky, so blessed," he said. "I feel good about how I've been preparing, but I have to take it to the next level."
Ah, the blind optimism of youth. Enjoy your Saturday afternoon, Clint Moseley.
